I have tagged and uploaded XEmacs 21.4.24, "Standard C", to the XEmacs
ftp site. The tarball can be found here:
http://ftp.xemacs.org/xemacs-21.4/xemacs-21.4.24.tar.gz .

It is my fervent hope that this will be the last 21.4 release of XEmacs.

Vin Shelton

Doesn't build for me :( The original 21.4 updates did build. Exact
same build and patches that I used last time.

Looks like makeinfo problems. I am using makeinfo 4.13 which comes
standard with Slackware 14.1.

makeinfo -P lispref -o ../info/lispref.info lispref/lispref.texi
/tmp/SBo/xemacs-21.4.24/man/lispref//edebug-inc.texi:3: Prev field of
node `Edebug' not pointed
to. /tmp/SBo/xemacs-21.4.24/man/lispref//debugging.texi:728: This node
(Compilation Errors) has the bad
Next. /tmp/SBo/xemacs-21.4.24/man/lispref//packaging.texi:21: Prev
field of node `Packaging' not pointed

(Introduction) has the bad
Next. /tmp/SBo/xemacs-21.4.24/man/lispref//intro.texi:403:
`Introduction' has no Up field (perhaps incorrect
sectioning?). /tmp/SBo/xemacs-21.4.24/man/lispref//intro.texi:7:

pointed to (perhaps incorrect

node (Copying) has the bad Prev. makeinfo: Removing output file
`../info/lispref.info' due to errors; use --forceto preserve.

Yes, I upgraded to makeinfo 5+. Most distros no longer have makeinfo
4.13 available. Is slackware 14.1 current?
Yes, although it was released over a year ago: 2013-11-07. The current
still has 4.13. Not sure if I should wait and hope Pat upgrades, or
just disable makeinfo and release as is.

Cheers,
Sean

First - thanks for your efforts. I'm sorry to catch you off-guard
with my switchover to texinfo 5.

My rationale was this: since texinfo 5 is incompatible with texinfo 4,
and since XEmacs 21.5 (and some of the packages) have moved to texinfo
5, and many (most?) distros (including cygwin) ship texinfo 5, I
decided to bite the bullet and move to texinfo 5.

I think you should build your own version of texinfo 5 and release the
XEmacs 21.4 built against texinfo 5. That way, when slackware updates
to texinfo 5, you will be all set.
